Paddy Fahy’s Reel
Inspired by Martin Hayes
This is Paddy Fahy’s Reel, a tune I first heard last year and quickly grew to love. I learned it from Martin Hayes’ version on Lonesome Touch, an album that has been a constant companion for me and one of my all-time favourites.
Lonesome Touch is one of those records I return to again and again. I listen to it when I need to relax, when I am writing, or when I am doing everyday tasks like washing the dishes or sitting down to draw. There is a twinkly, hooky phrase in the tune that really pulls on my heartstrings every time I hear it.
This is my take on the tune, very much inspired by Martin Hayes’ interpretation. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy playing it.
