Morning Cycle

It’s been a busy week tying up loose ends on a few projects, so I haven’t had much time to film anything more intentional or creative. But this morning, I thought I’d share my morning cycle to work.

Cycling has become a part of my creative process. It’s where my head clears and ideas start to move again. There’s something about the rhythm of pedalling that opens things up.

The ride itself is mostly downhill, with wide views across the Strathmore Valley (the ride home is a different story).

I’ll usually spot a bit of wildlife like deer in the distance, crows overhead, oyster catchers cutting across the fields, pheasants squawking and darting in the road, a rabbit or hare darting along the roadside. Being around this kind of environment always sparks something creative.

The track in this video is called “Morning Tea.” I wrote and recorded it a few years ago as part of a 30-day challenge where I committed to creating a new piece of music every day. It was intense, but surprisingly rewarding—and this was one of the ones I came away feeling good about.
