Samolynn Waltz
a tune by Mark Schatz
I first heard it while going down a Spotify rabbit hole, and it stopped me immediately. I wrote the name down on a small slip of paper so I wouldn’t forget it; and of course I quickly lost this slip of paper.
It took a few days of searching before I finally found it again, and I’m so glad I did. This tune introduced me to a lot of great songs and tunes by Mark Schatz. I’d highly recommend you going down a Mark Schatz rabbit hole. His album Brand New Old Thyme Way has become one of my favourites. Mark wrote this tune for the wedding of his friends Sam and Lynn — hence the name.
This is my interpretation of a tune that’s stayed with me ever since I first heard it.
